This blog should really be title my five songs of summer. But here it goes five songs that encompass my feeling of summer that I listened to very, very often. They are all good in their own way. Everyone has there summer songs, these are mine. Here's to a rain, bland, summer. One I won't remember really.
1. Adam Lambert - Is Anybody Listening? (From Ten Commandments)
If had to describe my music this summer, I would probably just say Adam Lambert. This video is from 5 years ago. Still amazing and boy he's gotten even better too. I have everything by him on my Ipod. From Feelin' Good to Cryin' to Tracks Of My Tears to Ring Of Fire to Want, it's all just so amazing. I admire him for working through all the homophobic people out there, which I believe is the reason he lost. Middle America is the core of voting for American Idol and they are the one who would like a man such as Kris Allen. Disgusting. Anyways, I encourage you to listen to Adam.
This song in particular strikes me when he sings "You can tie a rock to my soul, but you can't build a prison for my mind, no, you can chain my body to thee earth, but still my spirit flies, my spirit flies." Beautiful words. Captures the fact that nothing can crush your spirit.
2. Mozart - Requiem - Lacrimosa
This is song is bad ass, to put it simply. To all the kids who don't listen to classical music, screw them, this is real musical talent at its finest. Classical music is beautiful and calming. I call this "God music" because I imagine like a Medieval war going on to this crap and the Latin lyrics and style of singing. Very fun to listen to while reading Beowulf which is not exactly amusing.
3. Kanye West - The Glory
I was debating between this and Kid Cudi - "Make Her Say" which is also a good song. Kanye West, in my opionon is the best rapper out there right now. He's not afraid to be honest and be cocky as hell, trait that are not exactly admirable but somehow he makes it that way. His raps are a joy to sing and dance to especially while riding in a car with your shades on with your best friend. Basically everything Mr. West touches turns to gold.
4. My Chemical Romance - My Way Home Is Through You
My Chemical Romance captures my feelings and attention once again with this hit. Off their B-side of The Black Parade, My Way Home Is Through You has been on my Ipod for nearly a year without me truly listening to it, but one day this summer, I did. Boy, did it catch me. From the first note to that last lyric, I loved it, as I love everything else they put out. Ah, I just really enjoy them. Give 'em a listen.
5. Nine Inch Nails - A Warm Place
This song has no words yet it is one of the most powerful songs I have ever heard. Well, I lied it has one lyric in the beginning if you listen very very closely whispered in the background for the first about 15 seconds it says "The best thing about life is knowing you put it together." My takes is that when you feel lonely or lost there is always something inside you, to me it's God, but it can change for anyone else. But that life is yours and that you must just continue on and endure. This song helps me endure and relaxes me beyond anything. Nine Inch Nails is a terrific band that reaches into the deepest of depths.
